I joined Dearne Valley scooter club about two winters ago. I had visited
there meeting point ( 'New Inn' ) a couple of times and found everyone
friendly and helpful. The membership is growing and even during the
restoration months the meetings attendance is good averaging twenty
plus. With the great smell of two stroke and the deafening tuned exhausts
on our spin dryers, riding out with a club of this size gives you a
real buzz.
I own two GP 200's see pics. I use the street racer style on a regular
basis but I am prepared to down it to fund buying an Innocenti standard
GP 200.It doesn't feel just right rallying on someone elses creation.
The candy red scoot was expertly renovated by Jason Kilner another club
member. It was painted at Absoluetely Scooters by Derek and has since
been tweeked by Jason just to help it do a little bit more. I bought
some additional panel work and had it chromed so that I can change things
around when I'm bored with it. I don't have a favourite scoot and try
not to keep looking because I always finish up buying something that
I can't afford.
My favourite music is Northern Soul, probably because I was around as
the records were being recorded. At home I drive Andrea nuts with the
sounds and try to get anywhere wher they are being spun.
I enjoy everything about the scene, the fashion, sounds, two stroke and
being with a great bunch of people. My favourite rally was Whitby last
Spring, good attendance excellent venue and music. The biggest disappointment
and even worse than the weather was Bridlingtons do in the Spa 2002.The
best do was our Xmas bash at Wath Rugby Club. I have enjoyed scootering
for as long as I can remember dating back to when I used to stand on
my Dad's scoot and twist the handlebars when I was a nipper. On a good
day he'd drop me off at school.Once you've had two stroke in your veins
you cannot live without it!
